From the time I was a toddler, may parents were in the embroidery business. They purchased Creative Ideas with one standard sewing machine and grew to a 200 head industrial embroidery operation.
I loved to watch the machines run after school and often begged to have my name or monogram on things. At the time, Dad’s machines were not equipped for the type of embroidery I longed for, and things just never came out like I had hoped…with two exceptions – my purple Punky Brewster vest for one Halloween and a very stoned washed Coca Cola jean jacket ❤️
A Southern woman’s urge to Monogram EVERYTHING is as natural as a Southern man’s urge to kill anything with fur or feathers.
What’s in a Name?
Over the years, my love for personalizing and monogramming only grew. After a career in Social Work, and with our third child on the way, I started dreaming about turning my love in to a business. After my dad passed away unexpectedly, my mom and I agreed to partner and start Peanuts ‘n JellyBeans monogram shop, following in his footsteps while redirecting the path.
Dad had many, and gave many more, nicknames including our daughters who we all affectionately called Peanut and JellyBean; so the business name was obvious to us (although it’s proved to be a head-scratcher for many looking for snacks in downtown Uvalde!). Our son has been nicknamed Panchito after my husband’s grandfather, and we finally incorporated this when we began our paper section affectionately named Panchito’s Papeleria.
Why Retail?
After 3 years, PnJ has grown from a small office space, to a true retail location in downtown Uvalde and now a website to better serve the needs of our customers. We are over the moon about this expansion! We will continue to provide customer service and unique gifts with that added personal touch that you have come to love. We would not be here without our customers!
