Meet Brooke
Brooke Urban grew up in her dad’s industrial embroidery shop, overwhelmed by the noise and activity of a 200-machine operation. But she found peace sitting with the women who worked at individual machines sewing onto uniforms patches with employee names. One name, going on every piece of clothing. “I loved that,” Brooke says. “It was that personal touch to what they were doing.”
She opened her embroidery and specialty gifts business to do something fun after working in child welfare and federal probation. “What we do is a way of bringing a piece of joy to someone. We want this to be fun and heartwarming, and we want our customers to enjoy their experience.”
What’s in a Name?
Over the years, my love for personalizing and monogramming only grew. After a career in Social Work, and with our third child on the way, I started dreaming about turning my love in to a business. After my dad passed away unexpectedly, my mom & I agreed to partner and start Peanuts ‘n JellyBeans, following in his footsteps while redirecting the path.
Dad had many, and gave many more, nicknames including our daughters who we all affectionately called Peanut and JellyBean; so the business name was obvious to us although it proved to be a head scratcher when we first opened in downtown Uvalde!). After 11 years, PnJ has grown from a small office space, to a true retail location in San Antonio and now a website to better serve the needs of our customers. We will continue to provide customer service and unique gifts with that added personal touch that you have come to love. We would not be here without our customers!
